these are the rings dean has found and is planning on altering (surprisingly a perfect fit when on the correct fingers )ImageImage
The wig has been purchased ,parting is on the correct size and will require some loosening (have found a tutorial for this)ImageImage

the fabric is the fun one as so many of the images vary in colour , so far we are favouring one of these we have found
Image Image Imagethese 3 are the same just look different in every pic ?
Image Image or this one our fav at the moment

have looked at the mauve versions but think they are a little to purple and it only shows this colour in the vanity fair photos
VFImage other image dress coloursImage Image

bracelets purchased unfortunately only in gold ,so will need sanding and spraying Image

and these are the type of shoes i've found (will remove the bow and darken to match the dress) Image

So excited :) this is one on my favs...I brought some of the pieces but chickened out........Rings look good, are you going down the nail varnish route?

The Arda Josephine is also great, lots of people have cleared with it....like you say it needs a little bit of work. Be great if you pop a link to the tutorial up.

Bracelets are the correct ones and the shoes look good.

The colour is a bit of a nightmare I know they were accepting a bit of a spectrum. I know the VF pic is way too mauve, but i think it does need the undertones, that might be a little bit too taupe. A few ladies have overdyed fabrics. I'm not a judge though, so might be best to pop it up in global if you really want that one.

'Dress is Made from a puce colored jersey or stretch fabric with exceptional draping quality. The fabric should stay in the color range of puce that appears brown but during movement can shift in puce color range to a muted purple (see Pantone 19-1518).'

There are a few suggested patterns and some really good build info for supporting the back and neck piece.

Thanks Empathy ,
Will definitely be going the nail varnish route  , have been on the RL global sight and joined the fb holdo group and still as confused as everyone else on there about the fabric ( Puce )..lol , but have been to a few fabric shops now and have some more samples on route in the post (hopefully arriving tomorrow).
dean has made progress on a few bits too, leia's toy blaster converted , rings and ear rings alteredImage
Will post all fabric selections as they arrive

Its a nightmare fabric...the original was silk jersey I think....I've found some lovely silk bases for dying, but they cost a lot. The admirals is a great down to earth group. Just remember to repost any thing you do in there here, so we can keep the info one the boards :).

Those accessories look fab!

most girls have gone for the mauve stylish fabric, then ritt dyed with the grey that comes out purpley.....I think its pearl grey?

An overdyed taupe would prob be better....but it needs to be a rayon or less than 35% poly for it to dye without boiling. Everything I've found so far has sold out. (its been a popular costume).

This one in mauve, you could get a sample and try rit taupe/pearl grey overdye?.......It doesn't have the shine, but has a nice drape.

Sharron, that top fabric (the scuba taupe) that looks different in the 3 pictures. Have you got a sample you can do a photo inside and outside, i think it might be ok?

hi all
,material has arrived have had a practice at dyeing and this material takes it well ( thank you for the link )happy with the colours that we are getting when practicing on small samples . Just got to work out the volumes of water in the washing machine to material/ dye / salt ( who am i kidding , dean will end up winging it ).
heres a picture of the shades we are getting .
The middle is probably closest to screen images , have stopped looking at books and any other images on the net ( too many different shades in various lights .
Image

unfortunately the amount of material means i will have to dye/wash it in 2 batch's as there is just to much ( but have been told i will need aprox 12 yards of material
Image
the seamstress who dean has used before, has had all the plans and he is happy to do the dress and dangly bits( dean did'nt fancy attempting 4 way stretch material only having done flight suit previously ).
so progressing steadily

Agreed on the looking at refs.......it makes you loopy after awhile with fabrics that colour shift. I think what you’ve got looks great.

Sounds like a good plan.

I know we discussed the dying in the fb group, but just for anyone following this thread. Perhaps you could update with how you decided to do it and how it came out?
