Those caps are way better than the old plasticky costumebase ones, they should clear no problem.

The one thing I noted when looking at the screen refs is that the foam hole is larger than the 20eyes hole. I don’t see would be a big problem but figured I’d mention it

The originals had a firm rubber shell over the ear. Unless you make it yourself or mod the 20eyes in some way, they are one of the few decent choices off the shelf.

Endor Rebel Trooper -WIP

The original found part did but the screen used ones had the centre cut out and foam installed to help with the how they sat.
The scene with luke and leia before they steal the speeder bikes showed this off pretty well.
I thought I had a screen grab of them somewhere...

But yeah the 20Eyes very looks really close

Hopefully it will be ok then cos I’m not sure how I’d amend it and it’s a nice well made cap as far as I can tell so wouldn’t want to mess it up.

Ok wee bit more progress. Got myself a pair of gloves online. Obviously they need to be weathered but should be ok

I have also got a donut on the way from RWA. I was wondering if anyone had advice on how to paint it and what paints should be purchased to do so?

Thanks

I painted mine in a mix of all kinds of green I had here and there with some silver drybrushing and black tone wash.

The usual colour that's named is Italian olive. Not an olive drab, there's more green to it. Most of mine was Halford's Camo green and a bit of Montana Gold Military green to lift it.

Donut arrived today. Thanks for the colours however really not too sure about the painting process. Do I need to prep it in anyway first? Is it a good idea to put a silver layer on under the green so the paint can be scratched up? And what’s the best method of mixing the green paints to get the appropriate colour?

Fill the joins and sand smooth to start. Next key the surface all over with a fine grit over 400. Apply 2-3 coats of grey plastic primer and a light rub with 800-1000 wet and dry after each one if you're keen. I wasn't and skipped the sanding bit.
You can apply a couple of silver coats next if you're going to use mustard or toothpaste to mask large chips or dings or skip to the top colour if you're drybrushing the wear. Mustard masking is common and I'd bet you find videos on the interwebs about it.
Top coat I use 2-3 coats of a main base colour all over then apply light dustings of shade and tone to vary the colour.
Red and yellow symbol is optional.
Paint the stripes on the rear valance in black about 10mm wide. I used 8 to match Leia's.
I painted the inside black. It shows Warwick Davis's signature off nicely.
2 or 3 coats of matt or satin clear coat to seal it all when done.
I glued my peak onto the lower front lip of the donut with hot glue.

This shows the way the colour isn't uniform, the stripes and drybrushing.

Made a bit of progress on my donut this week. Following the advice given I sanded it and then used grey primer

Image

I then applied a silver layer of paint over this

Image

I used mustard to mark out areas of weathering and then applied a couple of layers of camo green over this.

Image

This is my current state of play on it. Going to get a greener paint for a final layer before removing the mustard and applying decals.

Nice work - I'm using a similar method on a Mando lid right now. Good progress :)

Thanks. Hoping to get some opinions. I got a greener paint for a last layer cos I find the camo a bit flat and have used an extra bit for comparison. How does it look. Do you think it would be acceptable before I got ahead and paint the donut with it?
